Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Saint Louis University Hospital!
The following are the criteria for participation:
- Minimum age - 15 years
- Have not completed senior year of high school
- Available to serve a minimum of four hour shift - one day per week
- Committed to completing minimum of 40 service hours
Junior volunteers are offered an opportunity to serve in one of the following areas:
Direct Patient Contact:
- Nursing floor - Assist nursing personnel in meeting the
non-technical needs of the patient.
- Transportation - Assist with transporting of patients
and miscellaneous items within the hospital.
Indirect Patient Contact:
- Gift Shop Clerk - Assist with retail operation of hospital
gift shop.
- Gift Cart Clerk - Assist staff, patients and customers with
selection and purchase of snack and personal care items.
- Central Service - Assist with preparation, processing and
delivery of patient care items and equipment.
The following process is followed before beginning service as a participant of the Junior Volunteer Program:
1) Complete and return application packet to Volunteer Office.
2) A Volunteer Services representative will contact you to set up an interview.
3) Attend New Volunteer Orientation.
4) Complete first step of a two-step tuberculosis screening prior with
the hospital's Employee Health Office prior to start date.
